GED PREPARATION OPTIONS
Community Services offers GED preparation programs and other services on-campus in the evening throughout the year. Our 11-week GED Preparation course meets twice per week for 2 ½ hours per class. If you are unsure of whether you are ready for the GED Test, you may want to consider our ‘Ready to Take the GED?’ course that meets for two evenings for 3 ½ hours per evening. Other options include visiting our community Adult Learning Center at CareerPoint in Downtown Holyoke. They offer free preparation classes but you may have to wait for an available opening. Lastly, you can purchase a GED Study Workbook for $20 from the Kittredge Center Non-credit Registration Desk in the 2nd floor lobby.
GED TESTING SERVICES
Our GED program provides you an opportunity to earn your high school equivalency diploma. It could be one of the best things you ever do for yourself.
The GED tests include:
Language Arts - Writing
Language Arts - Essay
Social Studies
Science
Language Arts - Reading
Mathematics - with calculator (provided)
Mathematics - without calculator
The test is scheduled over a three-day period. All of the questions on the GED tests are multiple choice, except for the essay parts of the language arts test. Examines must pre-register and are assigned specific testing dates. Generally, if you are not currently enrolled in high school and have never graduated, you are eligible to take the GED tests.
Applicants Aged 16 & 17
Applicants who are 16 and 17 years old must obtain a letter for their last high school stating that they are no longer enrolled.

GED Transcripts
There is a $7.50 charge for each transcript. Requests must be made in writing or in person.
GED Test Costs
The cost is $65 for the battery of tests; each retest costs $15. No show applicants must pre-register and pay all fees in advance. Please allow 2-3 weeks for test results.
Passing Scores
The minimum passing score per GED is 410 per sub-test, with the minimum total score 2250.
